On Day 3 we had a slower morning and didn't get out of the house until ~10:00.
We set out on foot for Triglav National Park.
Along the way we stepped back in time
while walking through the tiny town of Podhom.
These kozolci (or hay racks) are found all over the country,
and are still used by farmers to hang-dry hay.

We stopped at Cerkev Sv. Katarina in Zasip for a picnic and
beautiful view of the Bled valley.
After lunch - we hiked down into Triglav National Park to see Vintgar Gorge.
The waters were unbelievably blue.
All along the gorge there were smooth holes carved out into the bottom of the rock,
with gorgeous green moss and small stones piled up in the bottom.
It was really cool.
At the back end of the gorge there is a large waterfall
which empties into the equally blue Radovna river
The whole time we were in Slovenia,
we felt as if we had stepped back into a simpler time.
The majority of homes are still heated by burning wood,
as you can see evidenced by this barn literally held up by piles of wood :)
In the evening we walked around Bled some more.
too bad they were doing construction on the castle....
Venus even came out to say hello
My goodness Bled is such a beautiful place.
And we even saved the best things for the last day :)
