Live Like You Believe

You have felt the warmth of the fire
You have seen a glimmer of light
Its someing that you have been missing inside
Something that you have been longing to fing
Hold on to the yearning
And wherever you are on your journey

Chorus
Live like you believe
Live like you know
It's one sure way
Your faith will grow
Listen to your heart
Search in your soul
And you'll find
The strength that you need
His light, the gift of His peace
When you live like you believe

There are things you'll have to let go
And you might feel, you're just hanging on
When you find yourself alone and afraid
Questioning all the choices you've made
Hold on the burning
He's leading you on thru the journey
Repeat Chorus

Hold on to the yearning

And wherever you are on the journey
Repeat Chorus

Walls

I put up walls.
I avoid letting anyone near me
or see my emotions.
Because of situations growing up,
I've found it best to keep to myself.
I remain detached from any emotion.
That has been the best way to avoid disappointment;
to avoid hurt.

There has been one flaw in this plan.
If I allow one crack,
the entire wall comes crumbling down
and my emotions take over.
I never know the cause.

It hurts terribly.
And I don't like it.

Thanksgiving

Its been a wonderful Thanksgiving break thus far : )
I am so grateful to my wonderful friends
who make every day brighter.
I am thankful for my family,
for their constant love and support;
for their encouragement to push through when times are tough;
for their faith in me.
I am thankful for their hard work
and dedication to the Lord,
and am so blessed to have them.
I am eternally grateful to my Heavenly Father,
he has given me more than I could ever ask for,
and loves me unconditionally
even when I do not show that love in return.
I love him with all my heart.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone,
and thank you.

...what does it have to do with flying an airplane?

I know this post is long,
but take the time to read it.
It is so important to remember at this time in our lives.

"When stress levels rise, when distress appears, when tragedy strikes, too often we attempt to keep up the same frantic pace or even accelerate, thinking somehow that the more rushed our pace, the better off we will be.
"One of the characteristics of modern life seems to be that we are moving at an ever-increasing rate, regardless of turbulence or obstacles.
"Let’s be honest; it’s rather easy to be busy. We all can think up a list of tasks that will overwhelm our schedules. Some might even think that their self-worth depends on the length of their to-do list. They flood the open spaces in their time with lists of meetings and minutia—even during times of stress and fatigue. Because they unnecessarily complicate their lives, they often feel increased frustration, diminished joy, and too little sense of meaning in their lives.
"It is said that any virtue when taken to an extreme can become a vice. Overscheduling our days would certainly qualify for this. There comes a point where milestones can become millstones and ambitions, albatrosses around our necks.
"Elder Dallin H. Oaks, in a recent general conference, taught, 'We have to forego some good things in order to choose others that are better or best because they develop faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and strengthen our families'.
"Leonardo da Vinci is quoted as saying that 'simplicity is the ultimate sophistication'.
"My dear brothers and sisters, we would do well to slow down a little, proceed at the optimum speed for our circumstances, focus on the significant, lift up our eyes, and truly see the things that matter most. Let us be mindful of the foundational precepts our Heavenly Father has given to His children that will establish the basis of a rich and fruitful mortal life with promises of eternal happiness. They will teach us to do 'all these things … in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that [we] should run faster than [we have] strength. [But] it is expedient that [we] should be diligent, [and] thereby … win the prize.'"
- Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "Of Things That Matter Most" October 2010 General Conference

This was a beautiful talk from this past conference. Please take the time to read the entire talk here

bliss

when I stress, I shop.

It's my break from reality.

Today's dreams were in the form of boots. Lots and lots of boots.  It's fun to look at them and fantasize smelling the new leather
these boots are from Anthropologie
the perfect rugged, cold winter boot

perfect for Sunday, or over a pair of skinny's for a date : )

and of course
the best warm weather boot known to man.

The pairs I sport currently are daniBlack chocolate leather equestrian boots
and my warm juicy boots
They are beautiful and I love them.

Think Ali, Think

git 'er done.

...

"some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them...."
- William Shakespeare
** insert stupid, dumb, blond, or any other synonym in place of "great" **

Why doesn't everyone think before they speak?
It's not that hard;
a normal everyday function for most of us.
But I guess there are some out there who walk around with hollow skulls.

Tuesday, November 16

It is done

only about 10 hours of sleep this weekend.
But I FINISHED.
I honestly didn't think it was possible;
I hadn't planned on writing the paper,
or finishing the math.

I had weighed out the consequences
and come to the conclusion that the not even touching the big paper would still leave me with a solid A.
Doing a crap job on it would leave me with an even higher A.
My math homework, though VERY beneficial to my knowledge and understanding of the subject matter,
is only worth about .001% of my final grade.
So I could handle not finishing it.

My only concern
was finishing writing two computer programs.
and after spending 6 hours in the lab Saturday and just barely finishing an assignment
I did not think it humanly possible.

MIRACULOUSLY
I finished the second lab in record time.
AND had time to complete ALL my math homework.
AND wrote the paper,
a FULL LENGTH paper,
a GOOD full length paper.

The Lord works in mysterious ways.
He really does.
Because there physically were not enough hours in the day.
Even beginning work at midnight last night and only sleeping 5 hours.

But it happened.
I finished.
And I am so grateful.

Saturday, November 13

I want to apologize in advance

If you dont see or hear from me for the next few days,
don't worry.
I'm just surrounded on all sides by homework and unwritten computer programs.
When I dig myself out we can play again : )

Sunday, November 7

they just grow up too fast.

My gorgeous sisters and my beautiful mother : )
I miss them but am so excited to see them in just a few short weeks!

Saturday, November 6

Such an odd thing

Dating.

Confusing
Disappointing
Strange
Entertaining
in more ways than one.

I would share my complete
thoughts on the subject,
but there is no need for a pity party here.

For now it's shopping around, I guess.
When the shoe fits......

Ingrid Michaelson and snow...

"I'm going to learn to play it on the looping pedal and I'm going to kick some A-S- man... I'm a little scared...I'm in Salt Lake...."    -Ingrid Michaelson

Her concert was fabulous.
We didn't get her autograph.
But we did get snow!
first snow of the season.

an incredibly talented human being.

Wednesday, November 3

another thing that is making me sad.

2 consecutive concerts.
the same weird face
and in my defense, in the first picture I was being hoisted up in the air...

but that is not what we are focusing on here.

Do you see my color difference?
I look like a completely different person.

I am the whitest I've been in years....

Cracking

They're cracking me. I am so emotionally spent I can't concentrate.
I am falling apart.
My mind is telling me I can't do this; but I know that's what they want me to think.
I need to push through
but it's so hard.

I want to curl up in a ball and cry.
But I can't.
I have deadlines to meet and lots to catch up on.
I will never be on top of it. Just this morning I thought things were okay again,
and now I'm feeling the lowest yet.
As soon as I gain a little bit of confidence in myself,
I'm kicked right back down again.

you know what,
NO.
I can do this.
I am Ali Fredrick.
there is NO ONE else like me.
NO ONE can fill my shoes.
I'm going to do this.
I may die a couple times in the process.
But I will endure to the end.
