You Belong with Me

I have many times said that I am not a Taylor Swift fan.  But I must admit, she writes very catchy songs with lyrics that are very true to real life.

In an effort to re-write the lyrics for a girls camp skit, I came across the official music video for "You Belong with Me" and fell in love with it.

I believe in Christ

I believe in Christ
He stands SUPREME
from him i'll gain
my fondest dream
and while i strive through grief and pain
his voice is heard,
"ye shall obtain"

I believe in Christ
so come what may
with him I'll stand
in that great day
when on this Earth he comes again
to rule among the sons of man

The Book of Mormon

there is a new book on my summer reading list
the difference with this book

Angels and Demons

I recently finished another book on my summer reading list.  Angels and Demons by Dan Brown is a phenomenal book.  I cannot adequately describe how pleased I was with this book; so, I will leave it to the pro's to review it...
"A breathless, real-time adventure....Exciting, fast-paced, with an unusually high IQ" -The San Francisco Chronicle
"Among the best books we have ever read. Angels & Demons is part thriller, part mystery, and all action. A highly entertaining, page-turning thriller." -BookBrowse.com
"Crammed with Vatican intrigue and hi-tech drama. Packing the novel with sinister figures worthy of a Medici, Brown sets an explosive pace through a Michelin-perfect Rome. Brown's tale is laced with twists and shocks that keep the reader wired right up to the last revelation."-Publishers Weekly

It is sufficient to say that Dan Brown may very well be one of my new favorite authors.

Princess For Hire

Book number 2 has been completed :)  Princess For Hire is a tween book for girls with a theme of finding confidence in yourself. Disney has actually picked up the book and it will be turned into a MOVIE!  This book is of special importance to me because it was written by one of my Young Womens leaders!  I would babisit for her adorable girls all the time before leaving for school. You should definitely pick up this book, and look for the next one expected to come out a year from now :) Sister Leavitt told me they wanted her final draft in today to go to publishing!

Step on the Right Scale

I hesitate to share this because it is a touchy subject, but I feel someone out there is going through the same thing as me.

I have never been more insecure about myself in my life.  I constantly look in the mirror and wish I could change things. I feel fat all the time; my arms, my midsection, my legs, even my face.  I look in the mirror and want to just take a hammer to it.  I can't look in it and see a beautiful daughter of God. What I look at is how much my stomach hangs out of my jeans, or what outfits I can wear to hide my fat self.  I am constantly sucking in, telling myself, "If I could just get rid of this area..."  It scares me how concerned I have become with it.  I am not overweight in the least bit; I am petite all around.  But those thoughts still exist, and it has gotten to the point that I can think of nothing else.

I have said many prayers and fasted many times, but I am ashamed to say that my focus was on losing the weight.  "Heavenly Father, please give me the drive to work out extra hard today and not eat anything but salad. Help me to withstand the temptation"  I wanted his help to give me the determination to get it done and make it happen.  I figured it was a righteous desire, and determination was certainly a good quality to gain.

Tonight I realized something that I hope I will never forget. The youth today of the church are the most valiant of spirits yet to come to the Earth. For that reason, Satan is trying extra hard to bring them down and make them feel miserable. He wants to prove that the Lord's plan cannot work and is doing everything in his power to make the righteous fall away.  He is trying to make ME fall away. He wants me to be miserable like himself.  So far, he's succeeding.  I cannot let him take over me.  I was overwhelmed with emotion this evening when getting ready for bed, and when I knelt down for prayer, I didn't ask for determination and help to loose weight. I asked for help to overcome the insecurities. I asked for the strength to look at myself and see only the beautiful daughter of God that I am, and not be concerned with the imaginary fat that I seem to have become so concerned with. My focus completely shifted.  I had let Satan and the ways of the world get to me so much that even my prayers had been focused on the wrong thing.

It is so important that we always remember who we are and why we are here.  That we remember our Heavenly Father's plan and never lose sight of our eternal goal. We are children of a loving Father in Heaven. He knows each and every one of us individually. He knows our strengths and our weaknesses.  He knows our joys and our sorrows.  He knows our struggles and wants to help us get through them. He wants us to make it through to the end so he can give us all that he has. We must always remember this.

When I wake up in the morning, I need to make sure I step on the scale measuring my eternal progression, not the scale measuring my outward appearance.
Proverbs 3:15, "She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her"

I love music

This summer is going to be a season full of music! WAHOO!  This past weekend I went to the 15th Annual Schaffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil! It was awesome! I was feet away from Train and the Goo Goo Dolls... videos to follow!

I am also getting a Season Pass to
they have a pretty good concert schedule this summer too! check out some of the artists coming below!

Finally, I am going on a road trip with some of the greatest people EVER, Meredith Rachel Rachel and Kyle.  We are roadtripping it up to Charlotte, NC to see John Mayer and Train! Its going to be bomb.

For a girl who's never been to a concert before,  its going to be a pretty rocking summer. Thats all I'm saying.

Brave New World

I just finished my first book on my list for summer reading.  Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is a fantastic book about a "civilized world"; a world where there is never unhappiness, where anything you could ever desire is available with the push of a button, where death is just part of the daily routine.  A book with ideas and insights far beyond the age it was written,  Brave New World has inspired me to go back and read George Orwell's 1984 (my most hated book of all high school required reading). Written in the same time with similar thought processes, Brave New World and 1984 are very alike in their uniqueness to all literature.  This book is definitely one to look up. Thought provoking and strange, it not only makes me question our world today, but confirms my religious beliefs and societal views.
